Audrey Gasperson Craig

Arden –Audrey Gasperson Craig, 92, went home to be with The Lord on Friday, September 13, 2024, at her residence.

Mrs. Craig was born on July 18, 1932, at home in Topekeo Hill (off Overlook Road), to Clyde Thomas Gasperson, Sr. and Mabel Ruth Rhodes Gasperson. She worked many years as a waitress and was most proud of her time spent at the Grove Park Inn. She was a longtime member of Skyland First Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting hats and collecting pet food to share with the Meals on Wheels ministry in Asheville. She also enjoyed spending time tending to her flowers and watching the birds, deer, turkey, and other wildlife outside her home in the Avery’s Creek Community. She loved her family deeply and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mabel Ruth Gasperson; beloved husband, John R. Craig, Sr. who passed away in 2002; son, James “Rick” R. Craig; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Craig; grandson, John R. Craig, III; and siblings: Clyde T. Gasperson, Jr. and wife Faye, Lucille G. Shook and husband Paul, David F. Gasperson, and Beth R. Moede.

Those left to cherish her memory are children: John “Rusty” R. Craig, Jr., Paul “Rod” R. Craig and wife Linda, and Mary “Mary Beth” C. Curtis and husband Frank; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Cecily A. Hart and husband Stuart; brother-in-law, Roy E. Moede; and by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Skyland First Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Ponder officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM on Monday at the church.
