Asheville - Arthur Wade Edwards, 60, of 132 Arnold Rd. died Monday, March 25, 2002 at the VA Medical Center, Asheville. A native of Mitchell County, he had lived in Buncombe County for 18 years. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in during the Vietnam War. Surviving are his wife, Helen Raby Edwards of the home; his mother, Myrtle Edwards of Bakersville; sons, Wade Edwards, Jr, of Red Lion, PA and Jason Edwards of Asheville; daughter, Lisa Edwards of Asheville and Melissa Buchanan of Swannanoa; adopted daughter, Joyce Flauto of Mars Hill; stepsons, Jerry and Larry Hughes of Hendersonville, and James Hughes of San Diego, CA; sisters; Debbie Ricker, Sue Burleson, and Kathy Edwards all of Bakersville; brothers, William Edwards of Johnson City, TN, Gary Edwards, David Edwards, and J.R. Edwards all of Bakersville; grandchildren, Blair, Kyria, Brandi, and Stephen. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Thursday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Raby officiating. Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mtn., with military graveside rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council/Volunteer Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
