Annie Surrett Freeman

Leicester - Annie Helen Surrett Freeman, 90, of 51 Clark Cove Road died Saturday August 12, 2006 at her home after a period of declining health. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Commodore and Julia Surrett and the wife of the late Grady Freeman. She was also preceded in death by 2 step sons, Glenn and Herman Freeman; 3 sisters, Ethel Birchfield, Eula and Trudy Surrett and 7 brothers, George, Bluford, Loyd, Wilkie, Bob, Paul and Silas Surrett. Surviving are her 2 step daughters, Deffie Brittain of Hickory and Bessie Teague of Leicester; step son, Charlie Freeman of Leicester and a number of nieces, nephews and step grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Eugene Turner and Garry Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Sandy Mush United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
