Annette Plemmons

Asheville Ethel Annette Freeman Plemmons, 78, wife of the late Richard Merritt Dickie Plemmons, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Annette, affectionately known as Mama or Nana, was born in 1936 to the late Paul Wesley and Helen Goldsmith Freeman. She was also preceded in death by her oldest son, Paul Richard Cricket Plemmons. Annette graduated from Emma High School. Her husband, Dickie was an avid racer and won several championships at the New Asheville Speedway. She was his biggest fan. Mr. and Mrs. Plemmons first business venture were owners of Dick Plemmons Mfg. She was also the co-owner of the former Curtis Mathis TV, owner of the former Mama Toots Video, and CEO of Dickies Half Priced Foods. She loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her dogs, Angel and Sheba. Anyone that came in contact with Mrs. Plemmons naturally fell in love with her. Her family would describe her as the best Mama in the world, always will be, couldnt do without you, and we love you more than anything. No one will ever take your place. Surviving are her sons: Gary Chip Plemmons and wife Kim, and Tracy Buzzy Plemmons and companion Phyllis Clay; daughter, Tina Missy Plemmons and her life-long partner, Jill Franklin; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by her life-long best friend, Barbara Jean Burrell. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:00 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home, and at other times at Mrs. Plemmons home, 111 Hansel Avenue, Asheville, NC. The family wishes to express a special Thank You to Care Partners Hospice and the Barajas Family.
