Anna C. Morgan

Louisa, VA Anna Carson Morgan, 101, formerly of Chunns Cove Road, Asheville, died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Amerisist Assisted Living in Louisa, Virginia. A lifelong resident of Asheville. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Della Buckner Carson. She was known as the Grand Dame of the V.A. and volunteered at the V.A. Hospital in Asheville until the age of 96 and had over 36,000 hours of service. She was a Gold Star Mother and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Memorial Unit 2 in Asheville. Mrs. Morgan was also prececed in death by her husband, Dwight Morgan, her two sons, Donald and Morris Morgan, and her brothers and sisters. Surviving are her two grandchildren, Fred Morgan of Virginia and Donna Butcher of Texas; three great-grandsons, Kerry and Kelly Morgan of Louisiana and Matthew Morgan of Illinois; five great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
