Ann Penland Ledford

Gussie Ann Penland Ledford, 65, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe County, she was born in 1948 to Ed & Arsula Penland. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her brother, John Penland; sisters: Mary Francis Ray, and Dixie Franks; and soul mate, Dewey Calloway. Ann graduated from TC Roberson High School and then attended Beauty School. She was employed with the Hot Shot Caf for 34 years. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Surviving are her children: Brian Owenby, Teresa Ledford Woody, Tom Ledford, John Ledford, and Pete Ledford and his wife Chasity Simpson; grandchildren: Heather Welty, Brandon Branks, Dustin Branks, Whitney Ledford, Marshall Crocker, Mackenzie Crocker, Tyler Ledford, Trenton Ledford, Emily Ledford, Chance Simpson, and Caitlyn Ledford; great grandchildren: Michael and Haley; sister, Margaret Thomas; brothers: Walter Penland, JR Penland, and Mack Penland; and by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 till 3:00 PM.
