Asheville - Alyne Marie Lanning Bailey, 88, of 26 Rock Hill Extension, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at The Oaks of Sweeten Creek after a short illness. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she a member of South Asheville Baptist Church and a former member of Biltmore Baptist Church. She was also a 1933 Graduate of Biltmore High School. Mrs. Bailey was the daughter of the late Charles Otto and Mamie Pressley Lanning, and the wife of Columbus Harold Bailey, who passed away September 8, 1966. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Survivng are a daughter, Barbara Bobbie Wilson and husband Rev. H.L. Wilson of Asheville; a son, Tyrone H. Bailey of Asheville; two granddaughters, Cindy W. Sills and husband Ernie of Hickory and Nancy A. Wilson and husband Jeff Shelton of Asheville; a brother, James Lanning and wife Josephine of Salisbury, NC; and several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held Saturday in the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday at South Asheville Baptist Church, 61 Rock Hill Road, with The Rev. H.L. Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
