Althea Mae Askew

Asheville - Althea Mae Beam Parker Askew, 90, passed away Wednesday February 24, 2010 at the St. Josephs Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe County, she had lived in Ohio and Charlotte for several years before returning to Buncombe County 40 years ago. She was a daughter of the late Jay and Ada Burgess Beam. She was the wife of the late Floyd Parker and Ed Askew. Surviving are several step daughters and six nieces. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Mathis officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
