Allen "Jiggs" Banks

Asheville - Allen Franklin Jiggs Banks, 72, of 59 Shadowlawn Drive, died Monday, November 28, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital following an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a member of the Salvation Army Church and had retired from Drexel Furniture Company as a saw operator. Mr. Banks was the son of the late Frances Elmore and Dorothy Mae Ward Banks. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Banks, of the home; two sons: Stan Banks and Alan T. Coolie Banks and wife Leigh Anne, all of Asheville; daughter, Ellen Davis and husband Carson of Leicester; sister, Margaret Norris of Asheville; and brother, Herman Banks of Swannanoa. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday at the Salvation Army Church, with Maj. Leonard Taylor, Lt. Col. David Mikles, and Maj. Terry Israel officiating. Burial will be in Skyview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
