ALLEN AL CHAN CARTER, 50, OF 6 GOSSETT ROAD DIED SATURDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2000 AT ST. JOSEPHS HOSPITAL FOLLOWING A SHORT ILLNESS. A NATIVE OF GREENVILLE, S.C. AND A FORMER RESIDENT OF ANDERSON, S.C. HE HAD RESIDED IN ASHEVILLE FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS. MR. CARTER WAS EMPLOYED WITH THE BREVARD, N.C. HOUSING AUTHORITY WHERE HE WAS A MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, A MEMBER OF BELL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH AND WAS AN AVID NASCAR FAN HAVING FORMERLY RACED IN THE 70S AT GREENVILLE-PICKINS SPEEDWAY. HE WAS A SON OF JUANITA SISK CARTER OF GREENVILLE, S.C. AND THE LATE R. L. CARTER. HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A SISTER, SHERYL MEADOWS FORMERLY OF GAFFNEY, S.C. SURVIVING IN ADDITION TO HIS MOTHER ARE HIS WIFE, RHONDA BUCKNER CARTER OF THE HOME; SON, JEFFERY ALLEN CARTER OF EASLEY, S.C.; DAUGHTERS, SAMANTHA DANIEL WHITFIELD OF CANDLER, N.C. AND SHERRY LYNNE DANIEL OF DURHAM, N.C.; GRANDCHILDREN, LINDSAY CHAN DANIEL OF CANDLER, N.C. AND NICHOLAS ALLEN ALDRETT OF DURHAM, N.C.; SISTER, GLENDA LAUGHTER OF GREER, S.C. AND BROTHER, LARRY CARTER OF GREENVILLE, S.C. MEMORIAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 6 P.M. WEDNESDAY IN THE CHAPEL OF ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME WITH THE REV. FRED E. CARPENTER, JR. OFFICIATING.
