Alice H. Rice

Alice H. Rice, 95, was reunited with her husband, Willard Rice, in heaven on Friday, September 2, 2016. Mrs. Rice was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Hur Harris and Grace Babcock Harris. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by a sister and 4 brothers. Mrs. Rice retired from Bank of Asheville / NCNB / Bank of America after 40 years of service. She is survived by her daughters: Linda Greer and husband Mark of Richmond, VA, and Elizabeth Knight and husband Mac of Charlotte; grandchildren: Keith and Mamie; 3 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; special niece and nephews: Gracie Barber, Doug Harris, and Greg Harris; and by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Green Hills Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her nephew, Doug Harris and her next door neighbor, Joanna Worley for all the kind and thoughtful expressions shown to Mrs. Rice throughout the years.
