ASHEVILLE, NC. AND BOYNTON BEACH, FL. - ALEX PASSED AWAY SUNDAY, JUNE 17, 2001 AT HIS HOME IN ASHEVILLE. DAD WAS BORN IN PHILADELPHIA, PA. HE WAS THE HUSBAND OF THE LATE JUDITH R. HOGG OF BOYNTON BEACH, FL. FROM A STAR ON THE ATHLETIC FIELD TO A WWII ARMY MAJOR, TO A BANK PRESIDENT, TO AN AVID GOLFER AND SPORTS FAN, HE WAS THE BEST. HE INSTILLED IN US A STRONG SENSE OF FAMILY VALUES AND PRIDE. UNTIL HIS LAST DAY, HE WAS CONCERNED FOR THE WELFARE OF HIS FAMILY. WE ALWAYS KNEW THERE WAS A STRONG PAIR OF HANDS RIGHT BELOW US TO CATCH US WHEN WE STUMBLED. THANKS DAD FOR EVERYTHING YOU GAVE US AND YOUR LOVE WHICH WE CHERISHED SO MUCH. YOUR LOVING FAMILY; SPIKE, CONNIE AND DEBBY. HE IS SURVIVED BY A SON, ALEX (SPIKE) HOGG OF RALEIGH, N.C.; TWO DAUGHTERS, CONNIE HOGG RIECHEL OF GORHAM, ME. AND DEBBY HOGG CRISS OF ASHEVILLE, NC.; ONE GRANDSON, MICHAEL KELLER OF ASHEVILLE, NC.; THREE GRANDDAUGHTERS, CINDY WOLTHUIS OF LEXINGTON, SC., MEREDITH EDWARDS OF NEW YORK, NY. AND STACIE RIECHEL HARRIS OF WESTBROOK, ME. AND THREE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, A MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTION CAN BE MADE TO GOSPEL RESCUE MINISTRIES OF WASHINGTON, DC., 810 5TH ST. NW WASHINGTON, DC. 20001. THE FAMILY WILL HOLD A PRIVATE MEMORIAL SERVICE.
