Alden Whittemore

Candler Alden Hugh Whittemore, 74, of 9 Scotty Circle, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016 at his home. A native of Jackson County-Qualla Section, he had resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He retired from American Enka-BASF following 40 years of service and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Whittemore was a son of the late Talmage T.E. Whittemore and Grady Pauline Gassaway Whittemore. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Alden Hugh Whittemore, Jr. and Jon Scott Scotty Whittemore. Surviving are his wife Carla Faye Golay Whittemore; step daughters, Vicki Walker (Rodney Laws) and Melanie Sharp; step granddaughter, Maggie Grace Walker and brother, Roy Whittemore (Anna). A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
