Alan Jr. Gay

Candler Alan Douglas Gay, Jr., 70, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Oaks of Sweeten Creek. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Gay had resided in multiple places along the east coast and in Tennessee, before retiring as a mason in Orlando, FL and returning to Buncombe County. He enjoyed landscaping for himself and many others. He was a veteran of the US Navy. Mr. Gay was the son of the late Alan Douglas Gay, Sr. and Thelma Reece. Surviving are his daughter, Shannon Stuart (Buddy); three grandchildren; brothers: Robert Dodge, Charles Dodge, Michael, and Eddie Herring; sister, Cissy Herring; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the home of Shannon Stuart, 30 Overlook Drive, Leicester, NC 28748. Anyone with information concerning the extended family of Mr. Gay is invited to contact Shannon Stuart at the address above.
