Zeola Buckner

Mars Hill - Zeola Hollar Buckner, 79, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008 at Madison Manor Nursing Center. A native of Caldwell County, she was a graduate of Mars Hill College, where she worked as a secretary until her retirement. Mrs. Buckner was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary of several civic and Baptist organizations and was a member of Ivy Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Buckner was the daughter of the late Solomon Monroe and Mary Pennell Hollar. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Ralph Hogan; and two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are her husband, Raymond A. Buckner, whom she married in 1996; sister, Pearl White of Hickory; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Thursday at Ivy Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Worth Emory officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Thursday at the church.
