Wilma Penley

Leicester Wilma Jean Rogers Penley, 72, of Leicester, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 at her home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Penley had worked for Leicester Carpet Sales for 35 wonderful years. She was a member of Newfound Baptist Church, and loved being around people and her wildlife pets. Mrs. Penley was the daughter of Annie Rogers and the late Lloyd Rogers. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sandra Annette Penley. In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband of 54 years, Robert Penley; sons: Roger Penley and Bobby Penley; brothers: David Rogers (Joan), Wayne Rogers (Sabra), and James Rogers (Parry); and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday at Newfound Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 3:30 PM Sunday at the church. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting the Penley family.
