PELZER, SC - William Eugene Bill Connor, 91, formerly of Asheville died Friday, October 20, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Connor was born in Asheville on March 18, 1915 to the late Robert Hilliard and Lydia Embler Connor. He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert Bobby Connor; son-in-law, Hector McLean, Jr.; grandson, J. Scott Scotty B. Bailey; great grandson, Brandon Bailey; 3 brothers, Ted, Shorty & James Connor and sister, Lorraine Connor. He was a World War II Army Paratrooper, retired after more than 60 years in the legal field, was owner of Bills Consultants, advisor for Sunshine Commodity Sales and attended Washington Baptist Church in Pelzer. Mr. Connor was a shining light among all who knew him. His mission in life was to help people from all walks of life. His contagious smile and love will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Selma Blanche Powers Connor of the home; daughters, Aurelia Sunshine Connor of Anderson, SC and Pat McLean of Columbia, SC; son, Ted Connor of Asheville; 3 sisters, Mary Shaft, May Barker and Edith Slagle all of Asheville; brother, Jack Connor of Knoxville, TN; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and a very special friend and caretaker, Bill Bennett. Memorial services celebrating his life will be held 4 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Ingle and Mr. Connors daughter, Aurelia Sunshine Connor officiating. The family will receive friends following services at the funeral home. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to ones favorite charity. The flowers from his service will be placed on his parents grave in his memory.
