William Andrew "Jack" Wright

April 4, 1923 — October 4, 2014

William Andrew Jack Wright, 91, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Andy and Eva Henderson Wright. He was also preceded in death by a son, Donnie Wright; brothers: Lehmon, Roland, Bob, and Joe Wright; sisters: Katherine Alexander, Mildred Freeman, and Martha Dycus. Following High School at Fairview High, Jack joined the U.S. Army where he served with the 309th Infantry Regiment, 78th Division, in Germany during World War II, and the Rhineland Invasion in central Europe. Jack retired from Sayles Biltmore Bleacheries after 37 years. He was a faithful member of Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church where he served as deacon, member of the Building Committee, and member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class. He loved his Lord and fellow man, always willing to help wherever needed. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed being part of his sons and grandchildrens life. Although he is not with us physically he will always be in our hearts. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted and loving wife of 70 years, Catherine Williams Wright of the home; son, Ronnie Wright of Fairview; grandchildren: Karin Jones and husband Bob, Robbie Wright and wife Elizabeth, Paul Wright all of Fairview, and Lisa Cartwright and husband Clay of Greenville, NC; great grandchildren: Emily Wingo, Halee Wright, Logan and Jackson Wright, and Piper Cartwright; sister, Peggy Reed; sister-in-law, Helen Wright; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Harris and Rev. Stacey Harris officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church Building Fund, 646 Concord Rd, Fletcher, NC 28732.
