William Allen "Bill" Crisp

Asheville - William Allen Bill Crisp, 83, of 17 Hi-Alta Ave., died Wednesday November 12, 2003 at Mountain Area Hospice following a ling illness. A native of Graham County, NC. He had lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He had retired from the City of Asheville Street Division after 23 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. He was a son of the late Julia Crisp. Although Bill had no children of his own, he lovingly and kindly cared for the many children and grandchildren of his late wife, Stella Haney Reed Crisp. The family is grateful for the care he gave their special brother Johnny. Surviving are his step daughters, Sally Ownbey and husband, C. A. of Fairview and Nancy Reed of Asheville; step sons, Gordon Reed and wife, Judy, Jack Reed and wife, Sue all of Rochester, NY , Charles Reed and wife, Pam of Asheville and Johnny Reed of the home; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Harris officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
