Leicester - William Allan Bill Cartwright, 74, of Frisbee Rd. went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2003 while sitting in his chair in the living room of his home. Born in Haywood Co., he was the son of Reba Starnes of Asheville and the late James K. Cartwright. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Cartwright. He resided in Buncombe Co. for most of his life where he owned and operated Bills Shoe Shop. He retired from NCR in Dec. of 1990. Since retirement, he enjoyed hanging out at Franklins Shoe Shop telling fishing stories of the big one that got away. Surviving in addition to his mother are his devoted wife of 51 years, Janet Bowman Cartwright of the home; daughters, Fonda Cassada and husband David of Leicester and Sharolyn Curenton and husband Richard of Asheville; sons, David Cartwright and wife Teresa and Eric Cartwright and wife Debra all of Leicester; grandchildren, Lora, Brian, Tonya, Joseph, and Kelsi; 4 great grandchildren; brothers Johnny Starnes of Asheville and Dan Starnes of Lake Worth, FL. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Charles Surrett and Charles Duvall officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 50 S.
