Wilbert Alderman "Bill" Suggs

August 17, 1917 — June 9, 2005

West Asheville - Wilbert Alderman Bill Suggs, 87, of 90 Oakwood Place went to be with his Lord Thursday, June 9, 2005 at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Bladen County, he had resided in Buncombe County for the past 70 years. He was former owner and operator of Suggs Greenhouse. Mr. Suggs was also formerly employed with N.Y. New Haven - Hartford Railroad and for Dave Steel Co. and Fishburn Equipment Co. as a draftsman. He was member of Asheville Wesleyan Church, the church bus ministry and a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He was a son of the late Oren T. and Rettie Long Suggs and was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bill Krumwiede; brother, Albert Suggs and sister, Julia Holleman. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Thelma Lee Lowe Suggs; daughters, Judy Krumwiede of Florida and Linda Baker and husband, Danny of Swannanoa; grandsons, Brett Alexander, Ronnie Alexander, Charles Baker and Jeff Baker; sister, Addie McLaughlin of East Hampton, NY. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Weaver and Mr. Charles Baker officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Those who were blessed by knowing him shall always remember his kind, caring and gentle spirit.
