Candler – Wayne L. Searcy, 69, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2019, at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital surrounded by his family. A native of Henderson County, he resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He was a son of the late Harley and Margie Gasperson Searcy, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Searcy. Mr. Searcy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a family man and will be greatly missed by all his family. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Peggy Hensley Searcy; children: Leavon Searcy and wife Mary of Candler, Ricky Searcy and wife Katie of Knoxville, TN, and Tina Wright and husband David of Chesapeake, VA; 10 grandchildren: Martin Searcy, Chris Searcy and wife Sammy, Angelica Phillips and husband Cody, Tim Searcy, Jessica Mace and husband Bobby, Cheyenne Wright and husband Cullen, Samantha Wright, Caitlyn Wright, Tyler Searcy, and Jeffery Searcy; 9 great-grandchildren: Addison Searcy, Walker Searcy, Brayden Phillips, James Mace, Daphne Phillips, Dallas Searcy, Mason Wright, Alex Mace, and Eliza Phillips; brothers: Robert Searcy and wife Patty of Candler, Lloyd Searcy of Bent Creek, and Mike Searcy and wife Barbara of Old Fort; sister-in-law, Joyce Searcy of Hendersonville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 23, 2019 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 till 8 PM at the funeral home.
