Wanda Staffon

February 23, 1932 — December 4, 2012

Asheville Wanda Louise Sheppard Staffon, 80, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Universal Healthcare. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was formerly employed as a House Mother for Eliada Home, Ward Clerk at Memorial Mission Hospital and served until her retirement as a Private Duty Nurse. She was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church and formerly sang with the Sweet Adelines. Mrs. Staffon was the daughter of the late Lucius Fields Sheppard and Maude Henderson Sheppard and wife of William Nicholas Staffon who died in 1964. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Howard H. Sheppard, Harry Lee Sheppard, Richard Sheppard and Lucius Fields Sheppard. Surviving are her daughters, Darcelle Burgin and husband Bill and Tammie Towe and husband Dennis all of Asheville; sister-in-law, Marie Sheppard of Asheville; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Nancy and Jim McDaniel and Grace Morris all of Asheville. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Newbridge Baptist Church with Rev. Clark E. Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
