Wanda Lou Banks

March 24, 1945 — May 25, 2008

Enka - Wanda Lou Banks, 63, went to rest in the arms of her Lord Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Memorial Mission Hospital, St. Joseph Campus after a brief battle with cancer. Wanda was a Buncombe County native; daughter of James Everett Banks (deceased) and Helen Kathleen Coffey of Leicester. She was also predeceased by ex-husband, Terry A. Knight; two brothers, Donald and Larry Banks; sister, Ruth Pettit; stepbrother, Chad Golightly; and grandson, Justin Allen Wiggins. She is survived by her life companion of the last 12 years, James F. Braun,Jr.; her mother; brothers, James Everett Banks, Jr., Ernest Banks and Robert Lee Banks; sister, Darlene Putman, half brother, Timothy Banks and half sister, Jackie Morrow and step brother, Preston Golightly. Wanda leaves behind two daughters, Terry Louise Knight and Tina Keller. She has four surviving grandchildren, Cody Huffman, Joshua Huffman, Sarah Huffman and Bonnie Huffman. She also leaves one great-grandson, Xander Anderson. Wanda worked as a meat cutter/wrapper for Ingles Markets before becoming disabled. She was a long time member of Asheville Chapter 179, Women of the Moose, and advanced to the High Degree of College of Regents by her hard work and dedication. She was known for her cheerful will do attitude and derived great pleasure from helping others. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Esmon officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
