Walter "Pat" Jones

Asheville Walter Wallen Pat Jones, 94, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Aston Park Healthcare Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. Jones retired from the weaving department at Beacons Manufacturing in 1985, following 46 years of service. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, and was a member of the French Broad Lodge #292 AF&AM. Mr. Jones served bravely in the US Army Air Corp during World War II. Mr. Jones was the son of the late Charles Bailey and Mary Ethel Wallen Jones. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Harriett Buckner Jones; twin sister, Helen Louise Gosnell; and brothers: J.W. and Warren C. Jones. Surviving are his son, Tommy W. Jones and wife Lou Ellen of Asheville; daughter, Marian Louise Whiteside and husband Jim of Asheville; grandchildren: Greg Jones of Weaverville and Kim Jones of Cary, NC; and great-grandson, Cory Jones of Candler. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Troy Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
