Virgil Sharpe

May 1, 1943 — November 4, 2012

Candler Virgil Sharpe, 69, went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 4, 2012 with his daughters Lisa Sharpe and Lola OBrien by his side. Also surviving are his former wife, Mona Pinner of Candler and daughter, Laura Turner of Leicester, his brothers Van Sharpe and Vernon Sharp both of Candler, and friend Jack Perry of Candler, and many nieces and nephews. Although he was born in Haywood County, he lived all his life in Candler. He first started work as a teen cutting pulp wood and later worked for over 15 years at American Enka and Brand Rex. Virgil loved his fruit trees, fishing, and most of all his grandchildren- Cassie Perry, Chris Moses Jr., Amanda Smith, Brandi Pressley, Ben Perry, Deneil Sharpe, and Anthony Thomas, and great-grandchildren- Isaiah Smith, Nyah Kinney, Christian Moses, Jeremiah Kinney, David Moses, Ayden Moses, Kayman Coates, Amyah Kinney, Aubry Coates, Hailey Perry, Braydon Coates, Jackson Riddle. Virgil was preceded in death by his mother and father Ora Okelly Sharpe and Ralph Sharpe, brother Vincent Benjamin Sharp and grandson Nathan Sharpe. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday at Stoney Fork Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Austin Watts officiating. Burial will follow in church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Tuesday at the church.
