Virgil O'Dell Hollifield

Woodfin Virgil ODell Hollifield, 63, of 4 Martel Lane passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Hollifield was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a son of the late James Franklin and Edna Mae Ward Hollifield. He was the former owner and operator of Virgils Delivery Service and had worked at Silver-Line Plastic Company for 20 years. Mr. Hollifield was currently serving as an Alderman for the Town of Woodfin and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where Deacon and member of the Baracca Sunday School Class. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Nancy Walton Hollifield of the home; sons, Rev. Jim Hollifield and wife Debbie of Mars Hill and Rev. Andy Hollifield and wife Diane of Candler; daughters, Robin Hightower and husband Rev. Stacy Hightower of Rosman and Norma York and husband Mark of West Asheville; brother, Al Hollifield and wife Lois of Kitty Hawk; grandchildren, Vickie Hollifield, J.T. York, Tyler Hollifield and Nathan and Jannah Hightower and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 754 Aiken Road with Rev. Keith Watkins officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Thursday at the church.
