Violet Johnson Brown

Woodfin - Violet Johnson Brown, 94, of 185 Jonestown Road died Wednesday January 14, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital after an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was of the Baptist faith and retired from Eckerd Drug. Co. in 1974. She was a daughter of the late James Walter and Sarah Lucinda Allen Johnson and the wife of the late Rev. Sewall Roosevelt Brown. She was also preceded in death by sons, Cecil and Troy Brown and Daughter, Aileen Hart. Surviving are her daughter, Betty Redmond of Swannanoa; sons, Harold Brown of Orange, Tx., Earl Brown of Mars Hill, Wayne Brown of Woodfin, Ray Brown of Enka, Marvin Brown and Jackie Brown both of Woodfin; 22 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Bobby Gibson and J. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
