Vera Moore Davis

Asheville - Vera Moore Davis, 85, formerly of Stradley Mountain Road, went to be with her Lord Thursday, July 27, 2006. Vera was born February 26, 1921 in Swannanoa to the late Jacob Franklin and Nancy Ellen Briggs Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry B. Davis; two children: Bill Spivey and Mary Fender; and brothers: Elmer, Nelson, Tom and John Moore. Surviving are her children: Annette Crook of Asheville, Linda Barnes of Canton, Yvonne Singleton of Waynesville, and Brisco Davis of Asheville; step-daughter, Norma Shipman of Hendersonville; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Brian Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Aston Park Health Care Center for the wonderful care of their mother. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed.
