Velma Mae Radford

Asheville - Velma Mae Allen Radford, 76, of 27 Brickyard Road died Monday, June 7, 2004. Mrs. Radford was a native and resident most of her life of Buncombe County. She retired in 1987 following 20 years of service in the Housekeeping Deapartment of St. Josephs Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd Wade and Elizabeth Lizzie Fox Allen and the wife of George Clark Radford who died in 1971. She was also preceded in death by her 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Surviving are her sons, George A. Radford and Gary E. Radford both of Asheville; daughter, Brenda K. Parham of Leicester; sister, Evelyn Buckner of Asheville; grandchildren, Sheila Parham of Leicester, Mark Radford of the U.S. Army stationed in Kosovo, and Michelle Moss of Leicester; 4 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and their children and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Radford, Joe Mashburn, Robert Foster, Ronnie Buckner. Shane Buckner and Wayne Buckner.
