Velda Arrington Morgan

Candler Velda Arrington Morgan, 90, of 8 Curtis Creek Road passed away Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County. She retired as a Seamstress from Myers Arnold and was a member of Hominy Baptist Church. Mrs. Morgan was a daughter of the late Bryson C. Arrington and Okra E. Wallen Arrington and wife of the late Garnett L. Morgan who died in 1968. She was also preceded by her grandson, Evan Mark Durham and sister, Pauline Hawkins & husband, Glenn Hawkins; brothers, Everette Arrington & wife, Marie and Rex Arrington. Surviving are her daughter, Janice Youngblood & husband, Curtis of Fletcher; grandchildren, John Youngblood & wife, Kristen of Louisville, KY, Carly McAbee & husband, Kevin of Salt Lake City, UT and Matthew Youngblood of the home; great-granddaughter, Isabella Youngblood of Louisville, KY; sisters, Eva McClure & her husband, the late Marvin McClure of West Asheville, Mabel Crowe & husband, Boyce of Black Mountain and Jean Eveleigh & husband, Harvey of Gastonia; brothers, Henry Arrington & his wife, the late Peggy Arrington of West Asheville, J.B. Arrington & wife, Wilda of Asheville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. John T. Tiller and Matthew Youngblood officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. prior to services at the funeral home.
