Asheville - Tony Smith Hollar, 82, of 40 Woodhill Dr. died Tuesday July 12, 2005 at his home. A native of Caldwell, County, he had resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith and had taught Sunday School at several local churches. He was the owner and operator of the Mars Hill Shoe Shop for 37 years. He was a son of the late Jonas and Sallie Icenhouer Hollar and the husband of the late Helen Gentry Hollar who died in January of 2002. Surviving are his daughters, Jane Barnett of Atlanta, GA, Joan Gosnell and husband David and Jean Lankford and husband David all of Asheville; brothers, George, Hester and Howard Hollar all of Lenoir, NC; grandchildren, Chris Barnett, Johnathyn Robinson and wife Michelle, Kim Crain and husband Randall and Brian Lankford; great grandchildren, Jesse Robinson, David and Randalyn Crain and special neighbors honorary grandchildren; Hannah, Rebekah, Natalie, Coleman, Emily and Madison Rose. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Tim Lee, Dean Metcalf and Carter Pounders, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Chris Barnett, Johnathyn Robinson, Jesse Robinson and the Rev. Wessley Sprinkle Sunday School Class of New Bridge Baptist Church serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 P. M. Saturday at the funeral home. Special thanks to the following; Special Brother-In-Law George Grooms for many hours of loving care given, Pine Burr Park Baptist Church and New Bridge Baptist Church for the meals provided to our family and Dr. Albert Ford and Dr. Carl Bazemore.
