Tommy Hollingsworth

Candler Thomas Jones Tommy Hollingsworth, 80, of 143 Chestnut Creek Road passed away Monday, July 5, 2010 at the Asheville VA Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He retired from the U.S. Army following 13 years of service, having served in both the Korea & Vietnam Wars. He enjoyed attending Rev. Robert Harris, the Circuit Riders ministry, of which he supported and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #891. Mr. Hollingsworth was the son of the late Earl Jones Hollingsworth and Ollie Liza Penley Hollingsworth and husband of the late Margaret Elizabeth Mason Hollingsworth. Surviving are his niece, Diane Johnson & husband Floyd with whom he made his home; several great, great-great, great-great-great and great-great-great-great nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. James Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Memorial Team. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
