Candler – Todd Brandon Shotwell, 39, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the Memorial Mission Hospital.
A native of Buncombe County, he is a son of Freida Marie Blankenship and the late Thomas Lee Shotwell.
Todd graduated in 2002 from Erwin High School and attended Wilkes Community College where he played Basketball. Todd joined the United States Navy as a Rescue Swimmer until an injury led to a medical retirement. He was also a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church where he was baptized in 2017.
Surviving are his mother, Freida Marie Blankenship; special friend who was like a father, Mike Owenby; brother, Chris Shotwell and wife Rebecca; nieces, Kayden and Koral; nephew, Kason; and many extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 6 PM on Thursday, September 21, 2023, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Ben Heise officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
