Timothy Dobbings

Arden – Timothy Christopher Dobbings, 66, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 6, 2022 at his home. A native of Miami, FL, Tim had resided in Buncombe County since 1974. As a teen, he enjoyed surfing in Florida, and as a young adult, became very interested in collecting 1960’s and 1970’s rock and roll and jazz records, amassing an extensive collection over the years. Aside from his love of music, Tim also enjoyed being outdoors and on the water. He had previously owned vacation house boats at both Fontana and Hartwell Lakes. His love of water also led him to join the US Navy following graduation. Tim was the son of the late Thomas E. and Mary Cohen Dobbings. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Esther Gail Ewart Dobbings, who passed away October 24, 2021. Surviving are his brother, Michael Dobbings and wife Merry Jean of Wilmington, NC; sister, Mary Beth Winn and husband Richard of South Haven, MS; brother-in-law, Mike Ewart and wife Nanette of Asheville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 21, 2022 in the Chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, with his brother, Michael Dobbings, and brother-in-law, Mike Ewart, officiating. He will be buried with his wife at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
