Thomasine B. Owenby

Asheville - Thomasine Burnette Owenby, 84, of 196 Georges Branch Road passed away Monday May 23, 2005 at The Oaks of Sweeten Creek following a period of declining health. A native of Haywood County. She resided most of her life in Buncombe County and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Mrs. Owenby was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Buster Owenby and her parents Austin and Megellan Burnette. Surviving are her son, Jerry Devlin and wife Peggy of Magnolia Texas; granddaughter, Wendy Lee Gunter and husband Chris of Manchester TN; two great grandchildren, Megan and Michael of Manchester; several nieces and nephews including nephew, Wallace McElroy and wife Diane of Candler, nieces, Virginia Nesbitt and husband Guy of Candler, Betty and husband Bruce of Waynesville, Patricia and husband Ed of Leciester. Graveside Services will be held 10:30 am Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Charles Shelton and Rev. Phillip Hurst officiating. Mrs. Owenby will remain at Anders-Rice Funeral Home until the service hour on Thursday. The family wishes to express there appreciation to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the Oaks at Sweeten Creek for their Love, Support and Care for Mrs. Owenby.
