Asheville - Thomas Calvin Robinson, 85, of 256 Brevard Road died Monday December 20, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital after an extended illness. A native of Jackson County, he had resided in Asheville for most of his life. He attended Emma School and was of the Baptist Faith. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1938 and also served in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1941. He proudly served and was awarded the American Defense Medal. He was a life member and former past Commander of VFW Post #891 and a life member of the DAV. He received the North Carolina Master Plumber License #765 in 1942 and worked for a number of plumbing companies for many years before opening his own company (Toms Plumbing and Heating Company). He also served as the county plumbing inspector from 1960 to 1962 and later served as housing safety officer for the City of Asheville. He was the youngest child of the late Samuel Jefferson and Mary Lawing Robinson and was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Leona Gibson, Roena Kent and Rosa Ingle and 5 brothers, Gordon, Ralph, Sam, Gilbert and Marion Robinson. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Agnes Moore Robinson of the home; daughters, Ann Reynolds and husband Don and Carol Robinson all of Asheville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday in the Chapel of the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain with Dr. Jack Innes and Rev. Walter Peck officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
