Ted Jones

Ted Jones, 86, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 at Mission Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he had resided in Buncombe County for the last 54 years He was a member of Reynolds Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran during WWII. He was formerly employed by Steelcase and was a Tow-Truck operator for the past 11 years. Ted was the son of the late Tom and Stella Elkins Jones. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Austin Jones and brother, Arnold Jones. Surviving are his son, Eddie Jones and wife Janet; sister, Velma Candler, granddaughter, Erin Jones, grandsons, Cody Jones, Austin and Justin Ownbey. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
