Tammy Seals Shepard

Canton Tammy Danielle Seals Shepard, 33, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe County, Tammy had resided in Haywood County for the past 10 years. She was a 1999 graduate of Western Carolina University, where she was a member of the Nursing Honor Society, with a BSN, and a 2006 graduate of East Tennessee State Universitys Nurse Practitioner Program. Tammy was employed with Mission Hospitals for 7 years, where she served as a delegate to South Africa, before beginning practice with Mountain Kidney Associates in the western counties of North Carolina. She was involved in several special research projects for diabetic care. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, music, and spending quality time with her children. Tammy was the daughter of Thomas Douglas and Linda Wiggins Seals. She was preceded in death by Dr. D. H. Seals and Marjorie Seals. In addition to her parents, surviving are her husband, Harold Branson Shepard, of the home; children: Anna Danielle Shepard and Matthew Thomas Shepard; sister, Regina Dunlap Phillips; maternal grandmother, Nancy Cloer; step-grandmother, Theresa Seals; and a number of aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday at Newfound Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Lolley, Rev. John Greene, and Rev. Heath Davis officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Monday in Shepard Memorial Cemetery in Franklin, NC. The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Mountain Kidney Associates, 10 McDowell Street, Asheville, NC 28801, or to the Western Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimers Association, 31 College Place, Suite D 320, Asheville, NC 28801.
