Steve Kytle

July 5, 1925 — April 25, 2016

Asheville, NC Alexander Stephens Steve Kytle, Jr., 90, passed away Monday, April 25 at the Western North Carolina Baptist Retirement Home. A native of Marietta, GA, Mr. Kytle had resided in Charlotte since 1955, before moving to Asheville in 2009. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech, and retired from Southern Bell Telephone as an engineer. Mr. Kytle was a member of Park Road Baptist Church in Charlotte, and was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in World War II. His hobbies included reading, working crossword puzzles, collecting stamps, and rooting for the Georgia Tech football team. Mr. Kytle was the son of the late Alexander Stephens and Neta Foster Kytle. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Inez Coker Kytle, who passed away in April, 2006; and sisters: Elizabeth Chambers and Carolyn Lucas. Surviving are his children: Stephen Kytle and wife Kathy of Gastonia, and Suzanne Ellison and husband Rick of Asheville; granddaughters: Courtney Brooks and Haley Ellison; great-grandson, Jaxxon Ellison; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, GA. The family will receive friends 7:00 9:00 PM Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home in Asheville, as well as one hour prior to the service Saturday at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, Fairview Chapel, in Stockbridge, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association at www.alz.org.
