Stella Spencer

Plano, TX Stella Spencer passed away at Medical City Hospital Plano, TX on August 29th 2018 at the age of 91. She was born in Asheville, North Carolina, graduated from Lee Edwards High School and began her career at Southern Bell in Asheville. In 1948 after a whirlwind romance, she married the love of her life, Herbert Spencer and had a wonderful 65 year marriage. Herb was an army chaplain and Stella was the commandant of the home. Moving many times during Herbs army career Stella continued her career at the phone company and managed the home fires as a professional army wife, including Herbs absence for two tours of duty in Vietnam. Her greatest joy was to serve the Lord she loved and in whose presence she now dwells for all eternity. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb, in 2014, and her daughter Renee, in 2016. Stella is survived by her sons Jeff and wife, Judi, and Norman and wife, Marilyn. She is also survived by her grandson Thomas and many other family members who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 8, 2018 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
