Stella Briggs Carter

Asheville - Stella Briggs Carter, 81, died Saturday, September 18, 2004 at the Oaks of Sweeten Creek. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late Lattie and Pearl Shook Briggs and was the wife of the late William Edward Carter, Sr. who died in 1990. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ed Briggs. Surviving are her son, William E. Carter, Jr. and wife Karen of Asheville; grandson, Brent E. Carter of Vero Beach, FL; brother, Oscar Briggs of Asheville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Linda Briggs officiating. Private burial will be held in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
