Stan Montgomery

Yulee, FL – Stanley Jake “Stan” Montgomery, 81, went to be with the Lord July 3, 2020. He was born April 4, 1939, son of Jake P. and Charlotte Annie Mae Adkins Montgomery. In addition, he was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Annette Hall Montgomery following 50 years of marriage; a sister Doris Montgomery Roark; a brother Mitchell Roy Montgomery; a son Michael Jake Montgomery; a son-in-law Brooks Martin. Surviving are his wife of 12 years Barbara Metz Montgomery; a daughter Sheryl Lynn Martin, Columbia, TN; a son Scott Stanley Montgomery (Michaela), Jacksonville, FL; two step sons Bobby Wade Metz (Sarah), Gilbert, AZ and Joseph Henry Metz, Belhaven, NC; a sister Janet Montgomery Massey (Johnny), Hartwell, GA; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and four special friends Nick Wayson, Joseph Douglas, Lamar Pollock and Rick Sineath. He served in the Army Reserves 81st Division, retired Manager for Winn Dixie following 27 years, owned two Hallmark Card and Gift Stores, operated South Orlando Glass and Shower Enclosure, managed a Deer Plantation, Salkie, SC managed Montgomery Tree Nursery and Land Management, Jacksonville, FL, was a Crabber for about five years, Nassau River, FL before getting ill. An avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Little Sandy United Methodist Church. Family and friends may visit from 3 to 5 PM Friday, July 10, 2020 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 10 AM Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Elk Mountain Cemetery, with Rev. Jason Revis officiating. Military honors will be conducted by NC National Guard.
