Charlotte - Stallard M. Roberts of Charlotte passed away unexpectantly Friday, December 23, 2005. A native of Asheville. He was a son of the late Reagan Roberts, Mae Roberts Payne and Daitus Payne and had resided in Charlotte for over 20 years. After graduating from Lee Edwards High School in 1954 he entered the US Army and spent two years in Germany. Upon returning to Asheville he started a career in dancing at Arthur Murray Dance Studio where he became an accomplished dance instructor in ballroom dancing and until recently he still taught dancing to a group of Senior Citizens in the Charlotte area. He also lived in California where he graduated from the Pasadena School of Acting. He spent the last several years writing lyrics and music and spending time with his best friend, Nell Brooks of Charlotte. Surviving are his son, Stewart M. Roberts and wife, Donna of Asheville; brother, Charles E. Roberts and wife, Judy of White Pine, TN; sister, Claudine Suttles-Hyatt and husband, Tim of Leicester; grandchildren, Mark Roberts and Rachel Roberts; great grandson, Skyler Roberts and special nephew, Steve Suttles. Services will be private.
