Shirley Holcombe Salyer

Shirley Elizabeth Salyer, 69, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Willie Henry Holcombe and Louise Jesse Galloway Holcombe. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaruite Medford. Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Erschel Thomas Salyer; sisters: Virginia Walker and husband Bob of Franklin, Jeanette Parker of Asheville, Patsy Holcombe of Asheville, and Violet Harwood and husband Woody of Rutherford; brothers: Oscar Holcombe and wife Pauline of Leicester, Bill Holcombe, Jr. and wife Margaret of George Town, SC, and Ed Holcombe and wife Sylvia of Asheville; and by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Revs. Jay Bissett and Jerry Senn officiating. Burial will follow Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
