Shirley G. Shepherd

Candler Shirley Gregg Shepherd, 72, Mother and Nana to many, was the daughter of Ida Brown and Paul Cash Gregg, who moved here from Ohio to help establish the family business of Morgan Brothers around the time of the Great Depression. Shirley graduated from Lee Edwards High School in 1955. She is temporarily departed from her husband and soulmate, Joe Shepherd. She is also survived by three of six siblings: Donald Gregg, Bonnie King, and Robert Gregg. She was preceded in death by Paul, Clarence, and Harry Gregg. Her extended family includes five children: Buddy Whitener, Terry Shepherd, Carol Johnston and husband Harvey, Cindy Blevins and husband Tony, and Tammy Cash and husband Rodney; twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, as well as many knitters, crocheters, and square dancers. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
