Shirley Boyd Knight Mcclain

Asheville - Shirley Oleva Boyd Knight McClain, 68, of 130 Dorchester Avenue died Tuesday January 6, 2004 at her home after a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a former school teacher in the Asheville City School System where she worked until she left to help her son manage the Depot Restaurant. She was a member of the Asheville Kiwanis Club and Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a daughter of Grace Rogers Boyd Brown of Asheville and the late Zebulon Vance Boyd. Surviving in addition to her mother are her son, Russell Knight of Asheville; daughter, Shirley Silvers of Asheville; Granddaughter, Megan Silvers of Asheville and brothers, Thomas Sanford Boyd of Marietta, Ga. and Charles Brown of Tampa, FL. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Big Sandy Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before services at the funeral home.
