Fairview - Sherrill Phillip Gilliiam, Sr., 66, of 112 McGee Circle went to be with his Lord Sunday November 20, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Henderson County and a resident in Buncombe County most of his life. He was owner and operator of Gilliams Home Improvement Co. and attended First Church of God on Hanover Street in West Asheville. He was a son of the late Alfred Thurl and Carrie Mae Pittillo Gilliam and was also preceded in death by a brother Edwin Gilliam. Surviving are his wife, Alice Laws Gilliam of the home; son, Sherrill Phillip Gilliam, Jr. of the home; daughter, Janice Rogers of Candler; brothers, John Gilliam of Ocala, FL., Mack Gilliam of Fairview and Jody Gilliam of Hendersonville; sisters, Barbara Pressley of Fairview and twin sister Shirley Whittimore of Weaverville; grandchildren, Chris Rogers and wife Erin, Kim Rogers, Angela Rogers, Phillip Gilliam and Cheryl Gilliam; great grandchildren, Cody Sprouse, Lilly Rogers, Jackson Rogers and Nash Rogers; several nieces and nephews and 2 very special friends, Danny Pittillo and Harold Talbert. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Dedrick Clark, Tommy Wilkes and Roy Rogers officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Rogers, Jerry Glen Gilliam, Danny Pittillo, Jeremy Rogers, Phillip Gilliam and Everett Pittillo. Burial will be in Cane Creek Cemetery.
