Scott Lunsford

Leicester – Scott Ernest Lunsford, 52, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 4, 2021. Scott was a devoted and loving husband of 31 years, the most proud dad (her papa bear), and an amazing friend to so many in our community. Scott was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a 1987 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School. He was formerly employed with M.B. Haynes as an Underground Foreman and Job Site Inspector. He had served in the Erwin Community as a Softball Coach and Commissioner for many years and had a love to provide for the kids of the community. He was best known for the big smile on his face, his love for people, telling stories and jokes, and spending time cooking his famous barbeque with friends. Scott was a member of Leicester Baptist Church and always enjoyed singing in the choir and spending time sharing his love for Christ. Scott was the son of Larry J. Lunsford and wife, Betty of Asheville, and the late Carolyn Mills Pritchard. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Julie Henry Lunsford; daughter, Kirsten Nicole Lunsford (Tanner) of Leicester. His father Larry Lunsford and stepmother Betty; sisters, Brenda Ellege and husband, Ed of Asheville; Patty Shook and husband, Calvin and Bridgette Rice and husband, Tony all of Leicester; brothers, Jimmy Lunsford, and wife, Anna of Roan Mountain, TN and George West and wife, Lisa of Asheville; Mother in law, Barbara Flynn and husband, Rodney and Father in law, Richard Henry and wife, Raynelle; sister in law, Jessica Henry and numerous nieces/nephews and great-nieces/nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Chad Ellege and Rev. Jacob Ellege officiating. Burial will follow in Leicester Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the funeral home.
