Sara Moore

September 20, 1940 — November 5, 2017

ASHEVILLE-- Sara Lorraine Wilson Moore, 77, passed away peacefully at the Care Partners Hospice Center on Sunday, November 5, 2017, after having a stroke. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Sara was the daughter of the late Dewey and Elsie Warren Wilson. Also preceding her in death are brothers, Leonard Wilson and James Wilson, and sisters, Jay Brewer and Jeanette Johnson. She is survived by her son, Mark Moore, along with his wife, Becky and two grandsons, Cody and Shawn, all of whom she loved very much. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Aretha Sales (Bud), Bill Wilson (Patty), Joan Jones (Carl), Gary Wilson (Sara), Leon Wilson (Gail), and Marvin Wilson (Brenda), along with many nieces and nephews. Sara graduated from Erwin High School and spent most of her adult life living on a farm at the foot of Mt. Pisgah. She was employed locally, most recently, at Cracker Barrel and Shoneys. After she retired, she moved to The Laurels of Greentree Ridge in Biltmore where she leaves many friends among the residents and employees. Sara loved living there and was very active in social activities, Bingo being her favorite. Sara especially enjoyed holidays and traveling with her extended family. Before moving to The Laurels, Sara attended Reynolds Baptist Church. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at Calvary Churchyard in Fletcher at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 18, 2017, with the Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Reynolds Baptist Church, 520 Rose Hill Road, Asheville, NC 28803. The family would like to express their immense gratitude and many thanks to the staff at The Laurels of Greentree Ridge for taking excellent care of Sara and making her so happy. It is a wonderful place.
